Designer's Insight
Takayama embraces the simplicity and comfort of single-level living while creating a bright, open environment that feels deeply connected to its surroundings. The distinctive L-shaped layout was carefully designed to preserve and embrace existing trees on the site, creating a unique relationship between the home and the landscape. Large windows throughout the living areas, dining space, and bedrooms frame views of the outdoors, while a vaulted ceiling in the great room introduces additional natural light and volume. Particular attention was given to eliminating unnecessarily long hallways often found in single-story homes. Instead, the layout prioritizes efficiency, minimizing wasted space while maintaining a comfortable flow throughout the home. The primary suite offers privacy and tranquility while remaining connected to the rest of the home. Additional bedrooms and a flexible den provide versatility for remote work, hobbies, or changing household needs.Thoughtful planning, efficient circulation, and abundant storage come together in a one-of-a-kind home designed specifically for this site and the lifestyle it inspires.
